Reflection
The layers of a single verse.
The image its words evoke, the observation it meets and the classical exegesis — each with its sources. Nothing is interpreted for you; sources are shown.

Al-Baqarah 2:28
The verse is a four-stage timeline: amwātan (in a lifeless state) → aḥyākum (He gave you life) → yumītukum (He will cause you to die) → yuḥyīkum (He will bring you to life again) → ilayhi turjaʿūn (you will be returned to Him).
How can you deny God, when you were dead and He gave you life, then He will put you to death, then He will bring you to …
Al-Baqarah 2:74
The verse opens a comparison: heart ↔ stone.
Then after that your hearts hardened. They were as rocks, or even harder. For there are some rocks from which rivers gus…
Al-Baqarah 2:164
This single verse is among the Qur'an's densest calls to reflection.
In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of night and day; in the ships that sail the oceans for…
A verse for the day
Not a surah number — choose your state.
When you look for something in the Quran, what you are looking for is rarely a number. In HUSHU you pick whichever of eight states is closest to you right now, and one verse opens for that day. No browsing a pool, no endless scrolling — one verse, that day.
- PeaceLet your heart settle
- BreatheOpen your chest
- PatienceKnow that it will pass
- HopeThe light never fades
- LonelinessYou are not alone
- GratitudeLet your heart fill
- SurrenderThe rest is His
- StillnessListen in silence
The verses are chosen by hand. Not random, not an algorithm.
This part lives in the app.

The app
The same thing, in your pocket.
Everything you read here is in the app too. On top of it: voiced translation, prayer times, qibla compass, the Names of God and a verse for the day.

Without unlocking
The time, on the screen itself.
The countdown to the next prayer runs on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; the Home Screen widget shows all six times for the day. You never need to open the app.

The system runs the countdown and the progress bar; it costs no battery.

Why it costs
The Quran is free. What costs is the audio translation.
We decided two things when building HUSHU: never put a paywall in front of the Quran, and never show a single ad. The only way to do both is for the app to stand on its own feet.
We did not paywall the Quran.
All 114 surahs — the Arabic text, the Latin transliteration and the translation — and the Arabic recitation of all 6,236 verses are free, on the site and in the app. You never have to pay to read or hear a verse, and you never will.
We did not put ads in it.
We did not want to see advertising in a religious app. So that no betting or interest-lending banner ever appears under a verse, we never wired an ad network in. There is not one ad in the app, and there will not be.
